Will & Liliana // at Liam’s soccer game early Saturday morning.
Liam // has moved on from skiing to soccer…he puts his heart in to everything he does and does it with the biggest smile.
Liliana // holding “dat baby girl” Anneke, the barely two week old daughter of the best neighbors ever…she couldn’t get over how tiny her hands were.
Me // made some floral crowns for my girls senior photo session
Tay & Addie // had their senior photo shoot…over two days and it was exactly what they had dreamed it to be thanks to the incredibly talented Samantha Broderick.
Mathew & the baby chick // which is lucky to be alive…actually we all kind of are. For some reason I had a really hard time sleeping Saturday night. I was feeling a little uneasy and was tossing and turning for no reason at all. I finally got up out of bed to stretch my legs, went in to the kitchen to grab a drink of water, glanced at the clock and saw that it was 1:04am, walked through the house a bit and then headed back to bed. Not but 15 minutes later I awoke to an odd beeping sound. I opened my bedroom door and immediately smelled smoke. I headed straight for the sound and when I reached the top of the basement stairs looked down to see the whole basement filled with smoke. So what did I do next? What any Mom would do I suppose. I screamed “FIRE” ran to the bedroom to get Will up. Ran upstairs to get Mathew (Tay, Addie and Aden were at their other parents) out of his bed..only to realize he had slept in the basement. Ran back downstairs to the main floor, grabbed Liam and Liliana (who had made a bed on our bedroom floor that night for a slumber party) and threw them out the front door. Called 911, only to hang up on them because just as soon as I hit the send button I heard the calming voice of my Husband say “Everything is okay, I’ve got it under control”. Then moments later both he and Mathew (carrying the baby chick) emerged from the smoke filled basement. The cause of the chaos at 1:20am…the heat lamp for the baby chick. Mathew had moved the chick out of his room and into the basement bathroom so he could try to get to some sleep (little chirps all night long aren’t the easiest to sleep through) but being the sweet boy he is slept in the basement playroom so he could still be near her. However, he attached the heat lamp to the wall with duct-tape. At some point in the night..I’m assuming around 1am the lamp fell from the wall and into the baby chicks basket, setting the towel that the basket was lined with on fire. Thankfully the damage was minimum, just a scored mark on the bathroom cabinets and a lingering smoke smell days later. But I’ll take that over what could have been our fate. I know there was a reason for my uneasy feelings that night…and I know with out a doubt that they were placed on me so that I would be aware and ready to deal with the situation. I’m grateful to the Man upstairs for always watching over us. He’s a good one that guy.
